Creative challenge

If you are an artist or an artisan, like me, this has probably happened to you more than once: sometimes, it’s just not easy to create. Inspiration is not always there. Or maybe you are inspired, but can’t seem to get started. There is always something else to do. Something more urgent, or more fun…

So now I have decided to challenge myself, creatively speaking.

For the entire month of June, I will get one new finished piece of jewelry per day! Yes, I know, that seems like a difficult challenge. But let’s take a closer look to that challenge.

The piece of jewelry doesn’t need to be complicated. And it doesn’t need to take a day to make. I could start working on, let’s say, 3 pieces on Monday, finish a super easy one the same day, finish another one on Tuesday and the last one on Wednesday. And that last one would have taken me 3 days to make.

And it doesn’t need to be a metalworked piece. It could be wirewrapped, which is easier and less time consuming. Or anything else I can come up with that I can consider a finished piece of jewelry.

And, here’s another rule to help me out on difficult days: if I ever finish two pieces the same day, that would give me a credit for another day. That doesn’t need to be the next day, if I want to save the credit for later.

So that’s my creative challenge. Of course, it comes on top of my regular work. We’re talking creation here, not production. I will try to take pictures every other day to show you what I came up with.

Anybody wants to take this challenge with me? You don’t need to make jewelry to join me on this challenge. Just apply the general ideas to your products!
