Meet Bastille Bleu

I have always admired lampwork glass artists, who could transform molten glass into true pieces of art! I found Bastille Bleu on Etsy and have been following her on Facebook for a while now, drooling on her newest creations everytime she updated her status!

How long have you been making lampwork glass beads and what is your training?
Ive been making glass beads since 2006, and self-taught. Most of my experience comes simply “doing” but also from various YouTube videos on lampworking back when I first got started making lampwork beads.

What inspires your creations?
Nature, other lampwork artists, clothing catalogs (great source for trendy color combos), my dreams and feelings, and the whimsical.

What do you like most about your craft/art?
For me, its effortless creativity, and it allows me to play with fire in order to make pretty things, and I truly feel I’ve found my bliss!

What do you do when you are not making beads?
I am married so I like spending time with my friend and partner in life, my grown sons, playing with my dog, take care of our 100 yr old home, and on occasion I dress up in medieval clothing which Ive made myself and spend a weekend recreating life in the middle ages with an amazing and large group of people in the SCA (www.sca.org).
