Tina’s Dreamland: Pin-pin the rabbit

“Hello! My name is Pin-Pin. I am Tina’s best friend! We love to laugh and play together. She takes me everywhere she goes even where I am not allowed to go. But don’t tell anyone!”

I finally found some time to tell you more about Pin-pin. Actually, to tell you how Pin-pin came to this world.

It all starts with a lump of polymer clay. I make 10 to 15 miniature bunnies, cure them in the oven and align them all on a ruler to select THE one that will become the master.

You can see on the left a picture of some of the rabbits I made at that step.

Once I have selected the master bunny, I make a silicone mold of it and cast the first sterling silver bunny.

That little bunny is now the sterling silver master, to which I solder a jump ring.

After that, I make another mold, from which I can now cast all the little rabbits that will become pendants and charms.

Once a rabbit is cast, there’s still some cleaning to do.

Then, I solder the bail or lobster clasp, pickle, clean, oxidize and polish the piece to a matte finish.
